LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is currently seeking an individual to join our team as the Director of Finance in Gainesville, FL. This position is charged with ensuring the stability of LifeSouth’s finances through planning, directing and controlling financial functions, including establishing appropriate control environments, financial reports for management on the company’s financial status, preparing financial reports and analysis, overseeing the development and implementation of effective financial and accounting systems.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Manage the Purchasing and Accounting departments
- Provide financial advice and guidance to the Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
- Drive the financial planning of the company by analyzing its performance and risks
- Retain constant awareness of the company’s financial position and acting to prevent problems
- Oversee budgeting and the implementation of budgets to monitor progress and present financial metrics both internally and externally
- Manage accounting and financial systems and maintain full and accurate accounting records
- Conduct financial analysis and prepare detailed financial reports and statements
- Oversee all accounts, ledgers and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and regulatory requirements
- Develop and implement purchasing practices and monitor the purchasing system
- Prepare tender documents and administer contracts
- Respond to auditors’ comments concerning finances and operations and oversee required action to address deficiencies
- Establish and maintain cash controls
- Implement plan for investments and reserves as directed by the Board of Directors
- Monitor spending and recommend corrective actions as necessary
- Manage the maintenance and upgrade of financial and payroll information systems

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field
- Five years of related financial experience, including at least two years of management experience
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Valid driver’s license. Must also meet and maintain LifeSouth driver’s eligibility requirements
- Advanced computer skills and experience with computer programs such as NetSuite, Vena Solutions, MS Office Suite, Paylocity, etc.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Supervise staff and delegate tasks effectively
- Advanced communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to prepare concise and informative reports
- Analyze, think critically and make decisions consistent with SOP and regulatory guidelines
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
- Strong analytic skills
